TAMPA – Crews battled a stubborn town home fire early Friday morning in western Hillsborough County.

Deputies arrived on scene within minutes at 5911 Bayside Key Drive inside the Bayside Key Town Homes, and attempted to stop the flames with fire extinguishers. But the fire spread and took up most of the rear of the structure before fire rescue arrived. The majority of the flames were doused withing 15 minutes, but crews were still battling hot spots and flare ups even an hour later.

The building contained about 10 units, it’s unknown exactly how many families will be displaced.
