NEW PORT RICHEY – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a tragic early morning accident in Pasco County.

Friday, just before midnight, a pedestrian was attempting to cross State Road 54 near Grand Boulevard when they were struck by a westbound SUV. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene.

FHP arrived about 30 minutes later to conduct their investigation. At this time, no identities have been released. Westbound traffic was closed for a couple hours following the crash.
