ZEPHYRHILLS – A 9-year-old Pasco County boy is at a Tampa hospital after being struck by lightning Sunday afternoon.

The call came in just after 4PM at a home at 3411 Diana Dive. The child was in the yard when a bolt from a nearby storm struck a nearby fence, injuring him.

Pasco Fire Rescue responded and requested Bayflight, but due to the weather, they were unable to fly. The child was transported to Tampa General Hospital via ground.

No further information was released.
