Tampa Bay Media Group is a video production service with our main focus in breaking news video. Our freelance videographers (called “stringers” in news terminology) search and shoot breaking news stories in Tampa Bay that appear frequently on the local and even national news.

The first incarnation of Tampa Bay Media Group was developed on June 20th, 2004, as a spot news photo gallery for the western Hillsborough County. A year later, TBMG was operating as a full featured alternative local website featuring news, weather, traffic, and sports information for the Tampa Bay area.  In 2008, our news operation closed when we decided to move in a different direction.

Now several freelance news videographers are affiliated with TBMG, covering Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Manatee and Hernando Counties. TBMG is the only stringer service in the Tampa Bay Area that is affiliated with multiple photographers. The advantage of having multiple photographers apart of the same company aids in adequate market  coverage, combining advanced electronic news gathering resources, and dedicated service you won’t see in other stringer organizations.

TBMG is always advancing in technology. TBMG was the first stringer organization in Tampa Bay to shoot in High Definition. We utilize several digital scanners, scanning public safety agencies throughout the region. Additionally, we subscribe to several paid services that alerts us to breaking news events and press releases.

Although we’re not the first stringer organization to launch a website, our new website is  evidence to our commitment to provide quality media content to our clients. We base our business model on the quote “If you’re not moving forward, you’re moving backward.” We are always thinking of ways to improve our work because we care about our clients. In fact, stringer organizations in other markets have come to us for advice, and we’re happy to work with them to build their business and rise to the top of their market.

TBMG has strict ethical guidelines in place so that out staff conducts themselves appropriately. We hold our staff to a high standard to not only look professional, but act professional. However, news videography in itself invites conflict with public safety personnel and the public in general. We respect the jobs of emergency workers and we attempt minimize conflict when ever possible. However, we also believe in return, our rights as photographers and journalists should not be violated.
