TAMPA – A fatal crash involving a pedestrian has the westbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway closed.

The crash happened Saturday night near Rocky Point Drive. It appears a pedestrian was struck and killed by a SUV.

No official information has been released at this time and the investigation continues.

TAMPA – Tampa Police officers are credited to saving the life of a car accident victim Saturday night.

The crash happened on North 22nd Street at East Cayuga Street. When police arrived, they found one of the vehicles on fire.

The officers sprung into action and attempted to douse the flames with fire extinguishers, but the fire was too great. The officers then pulled the victim out of the vehicle just before the vehicle became heavily involved.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The officers were driven to Tampa General Hospital for minor injuries, including smoke inhalation. No names have been released.

TAMPA – Tampa Police are investigating a crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway Sunday night.

It happened in the eastbound lanes between the boat ramp and Rocky Point. A single red pickup left the roadway and struck a palm tree.

One victim was flown to an area hospital and another victim was transported by ground. Initial reports from police indicate that the injuries are not serious.

The eastbound lanes were closed for an hour and has since reopened. No further information was released.

TAMPA – Deputies are investigating an early morning crash that sent at least one man to the hospital.

The crash happened Saturday on Ehrlich Road near Pennington Road in Hillsborough County. It appears a single SUV left the roadway and turned onto its side in a ditch.

At least one man was extricated from the crash with the jaws of life. He was transported to a bay area hospital where per scanner traffic, he was listed in critical condition.

No official information has been released.

BRANDON – A man in Hillsborough County suffered serious injuries after a meth lab explosion. It happened in the 800 block of Center Avenue in Brandon.

Deputies say the man was cooking methamphetamine inside a large shed when the chemicals ignited. He suffered serious burns and was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital.

HazMat crews and federal investigators responded to mitigate the scene and determine how large the meth operation is.

The man was not identified.
